Dolmabahce Palace: European House of Ottoman Sultans

1000-meters-long shore of Bosphorus is spared for a royal house in Istanbul. As the Ottoman Sultans had lived almost for 4-centuries at Topkapı Palace, it always seemed the un-authentic palace of the Ottomans. They moved in mid-19th century during a sharp modern transition of a formerly more traditional empire.

Dolmabahce Palace Entrance from its Gardens

Unlike the former palace, the indoor spaces cover much larger portion in this very well-planned building.

The architects of this complex are a father and son from the famous Balyan family, who had been royal masters for a long time.

A solution that we came up with is to think of sanitary pads packaging as you would tea. Tea comes individually packaged
